RubyCAS is an open sourced "single sign on" solution I developed over the last two years. Based on the standardized CAS protocol, RubyCAS allows for a single point of authentication for multiple web apps -- the user logs in once at a central login page and is automatically authenticated throughout all of the organization's web-based applications.
The system is widely used by a variety of large enterprises (for example UC Berkley) and has attracted an active open-source community. See the RubyCAS-Server Google Code page for more information.
ENCORE was an experimental online community developed by Dr. Jim Slotta at OISE/UT. Built for academics researching the use of technology in education, ENCORE allowed researchers to exchange resources, form informal working groups called "tribes", and spearhead joint efforts using a set of collaborative tools.
The system was based on a heavily customized Confluence wiki, interfacing with custom components written in Java and Ruby.
I was responsible for designing, conceptualizing, and implementing much of ENCORE's technology.
Vaudiolizer, my undergrad thesis project, is a Java-based system that transforms real-time visual data from a head-mounted webcam into stereo audio output. With practice, the system becomes an effective sensory replacement for the blind by allowing the user to "hear" their visual surroundings.
